A memorial will be held to remember and honor Ethel at a later date.

Mae (Pohlman) Kersey, age 79, of Carmel, passed away on May 12, 2015.  Ethel was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Jake and Ethel Pohlman on May 26, 1935. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald, in 2008. Survivors are her sons Manon Kersey (Rebecca Ryan) of Carmel, Shawn Kersey (Cindy) of Dallas, Texas, and granddaughter, Amanda and husband, Bryan Walior, of Dallas, Texas.

Ethel received her Master’s degree in Library Science from Indiana University in 1970. She was a reference/liberal arts librarian at Indiana University-Purdue University for many years and held the position of head librarian when she retired. She authored a book, Women Philosophers: A Bio-critical Source Book, as well as several e-stories and poems. She could always be found with a book in her hand.

Ethel loved a good debate and was very interested in women’s rights. She also loved fine arts and encouraged those close to her to pursue those interests.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association
